We offer programs leading an M.A. degree and to a joint J.D/M.A. degree. For details, please see “Degree Requirements” above.
With the exception of the J.D./M.A. track, our M.A. program is designed to be finished in two years. See “tips on finishing fast.” However, many students take three years to finish.
Taking Courses at Other Institutions
In addition to the regularly offered courses described below (and any other Georgia State University courses), Georgia State University students are able to take courses at about 20 local universities, such as Emory University, and their tuition waiver applies to these courses. Students should be aware that the cross-registration deadlines and procedures are complex and the other universities often require that students follow them to the letter.
Scholastic Discipline Policy for M.A. Program
At the end of each Spring term, all graduate students in the M.A. program are evaluated for continuation in the program. Unless exceptional circumstances are present, students with a GPA below 3.0 in graduate-level philosophy classes will be scholastically terminated.
